Default Thermo sight ?

Posted this in the DYI section. Didn't get anything.
Greetings
so I recently put a ball valve on my
bayou classic 15 gallon pot. Slowly
turning her into a HLT. I bought a
thermo sight and I can't decide if
I should put it above valve (would that
be too much "dead space" below it or too hard to gauge) or
kind of level with valve (would that
put thermometer to close to flame).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It should read just as accurately the level of water you have wherever you mount it. If i were making one I would put it jut above my valve.
