Well, I'm a member of the ASBC...does that qualify me?
EDIT: Is this a "Brew-Nerd" or an overall general "Nerd-in-life" ? Either way, I my answer is still yes.

I know I am. I am an IT dept. geek/nerd, with all those silly certifications, as well as a ham radio operator, radio control hobbyist, and I honestly believe that DEVO was the greatest live act evar!

No.
I brew because.
I like good beer.
I like to be as self sufficient as possible.
I don't like giving money to the government to waste.
and
Because I can.

I vote yest, because in my opinion EVERYONE is a nerd. I've been around all types, and even the bad aZZ bikers and guys with felony convictions, etc. have a lot of nerd in them. Yup, even the "cool" are "nerds!
Brewing itself does not make someone a nerd. "Nerd" are not inherently attracted to brewing, IT, engineering, etc. any more than other fields or hobbies. But, I will say there are different levels of nerdiness, and some people fit the "classic profile" of "nerd" much more than others.
