I have an old 15 gallon plastic fermentor pale that I keep my small equpment in. The only chemicals in it are some sulphites and iodophor. They are 100% sealed up in their containers. Other that that I have tubing and cappers and airlock etc.
So today I opened it up and a waft of strong fumes filled my sinuses and smelled very sour and made my throat and nos burn like hell. Now I keep coughing up green mucus and my stomach really hurts. Im on my way to a doctor soon but does anybody have a clue what those fumes could have been from? I took everything out and its all clean and nothing has spilled. Im quite worried aboout this.

Sulphite compounds + iodine can form sulphuric acid, but that usually happens in aqueous solution.

Hope your doctor figures out your trouble quickly and you suffer no ill effects. Good luck!
