RIP old girl - barley wine in your memory...
|
|
Hey guys,
so my old girl had to get put down this morning, she was 14 years old as of 2 months ago, aussie shepard/border collie. got to the point where she was unable to walk anymore and started just peeing while she was sleeping. so it was something we had to do. i'm at work right now trying not to bawl my eyes out. However i did brew on friday night that hopefully will age out over a year so i can drink it next august.
anyone else do something of this nature?
RIP P.I.T.A. (some humor though, PITA stood for pain in the ass ) you will be missed...

Best dog I ever had was a border collie. I still have her picture on my wall 20 years later. I also had to have her put down as she simply refused to die while she could still see me.
My deepest sympathies. The hardest part will be when you forget she is gone and expect her to be at your heel. You turn around, and she is not there.
I'm going to get a beer right now, and drink it to PITA.

I named a brew after a buddy of mine who died of cancer earlier this year.
Sam's Pale Ale will be ready very soon.
My condolences.

So hard putting down our best friends.
I'm getting all choked up thinking about my last couple of canine buddies, the latest was put down while I was away on a tour back in the fall. Didn't get a chance to say good by.
I think naming a brew after your best buddy is a great idea! Letting it age for a year and remembering her on the anniversary is beautiful.
My thoughts are with you and your puppy.

I know where your at, put my dog to sleep about 3 weeks ago, she was 14 and 8 months! Anyways our best friends rely on us to help them, especially when they are in pain and cannot do anything about it themselves, she is very happy right now! Having a blonde ale in a lagunitas glass, with the mans best friend on the front, to pita! Cheers girl

We lost a dog last fall when she escaped from our fence and was shot. She made it back to our back porch bfor saying goodbye. I love this idea and look forward to developing a recipe for "tiki's revenge". Thanks for the idea. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. I know how painful it can be to have to put down a dog. They truly become part of the family.
Good luck on your barleywine, should be a good one to squirrel away for the coming years.
