Default Pumkin this....Pumkin that.

Am I the only one that doesn't care for the pumpkin everything? No sir...nope....I don't like it. Hell, I was actually looking forward to something from New Belgium for once. I thought the Red Hoptober was pretty good. But Nooooooo, they came out with a pumpkin ale. The Pumpkin Wars are getting out of hand.... On the bright side, just kegged my own version of the Red Hoptober, and it tastes pretty damn good. So there!!

I like MY pumpkin ale.... I think the whole over hopping of things is what's gotten out of hand.

I designed and brewed a pumpkin ale last year that sold out fast. Personally I am not a fan and never drank more than a 2oz sample glass, but other seem to like it for some reason.

I'll have some pumpkin pie at thanksgiving, maybe a piece or two of pumpkin bread (esp with cream cheese frosting) but that's about it. SWMBO and I split a bomber of Southern Tier Pumking last fall and that was probably the first pumpkin beer I'd had in five years.

I agree, the pumpkin beer thing is overrated. Maybe it stems from people not being able to make a proper Oktoberfest, so they think pumpkin beer replaces it. I don't know. That being said, I am curious about the PumKing just because of how much hype it gets. Just not curious enough to choose it over Stone's Gotterdammerung when I was at total wine yesterday. THAT is a delicious beer.

I'm not a big fan of gourds meself. I've never had a pumpkin beer, and don't want one. So I don't buy them. Of course, next is the winter warmers with spiced beer and cinnamon and all that... even worse than pumpkin beer season. That's why I homebrew!

I like pumpkin beers. It's one of the things I look forward to when the fall brews come out. Having more breweries make them means that there's more variety for me to try. I would like to see more creativity with it though. Being able to buy singles in a bottle shop adds to flexibility so I'm not stuck with 5 more of a beer I end up not liking.

As far as seasonal offerings, I like the idea that Coors does with Blue Moon where they release multiple beer offerings in a case. I wasn't blown away by the beers but it was nice to have more than just a bunch of pumpkin beers. I would like to see craft breweries do the same, where they release multiple beers in a set. Sam Adams does it but I can think of a ton of breweries that I'd like to have do this.
