Default Propane Man to the Rescue

First time using a KAB6 burner yesterday. It went through quite a bit more gas than anticipated. As we began the boil, we figured we wouldn't have enough to finish it.

Googed to see who was open on Sunday and found a guy who not only was open but delivered as well. And he was cheaper than the normal source! He arrived just as our tank was giving up.

$16.50 + tip = $20 for a 5 gallon tank. Of course he stayed for a quick beer.

Some Lowes and HD these days have 24x7 propane stations... at least in our area. You to to a kiosk, pay via CC, a door opens, you put in your empty tank, close, another door opens with a full tank.

That works but delivery is better. Didn't lose any time, didn't even need to leave my garage.

Delivery is especially helpful if it's no longer wise to drive

The issue I've found with those tank exchange kiosks is that they often cost much more than a refill, and are often under-filled. You also cannot exchange the branded (Blue Rhino, etc.) tanks except at the branded kiosk.

I've used those 4 times now, and they've charged me incorrectly every single time.

Twice I got new tanks, and was charged for a refill, and twice I got refills, and was charged for a new tank. Comes out even overall, but still aggravating.

$9 for a refill at the "local" Native American reservation. I just make sure I always have a full tank on hand. As soon as I crack into that one, I go fill up the next.
