Default Pipe Tape for HLT

I had a leak from my thermometer and think I could fix it with some rubber gaskets and pipe tape, but is the high temps ok for pipe tape? Need to get my water up to about 180 to fly sparge.

Pipe tape is Teflon... PTFE... same stuff as in your frying pans. It's fine.

That said, though, pipe tape is meant to seal pipe threads. Not sure what you have in mind...

They also make some PTFE pipe thread sealant. It comes in a tube. I have had better luck with it than with tape on stainless. I've had this tube a long time, there is some out there that is not for use with potable water. Make sure you get the right stuff. Luck - Dwain
