How early is too early to brew this to have ready for Octoberish?

Nope, traditionally they are made in March so you're not too early.

Oktoberfest starts in September. I just kegged an Oktoberfest this week. I'll drink this style any month of the year.

yes but it use to take place in October.... Today's Germans just wussed out and moved it into September so they won't be so cold.... So if you want to be authentic.... shoot for October.

I'll be brewing mine this month and also my winter ale. I like to let them set for a while and blend. Then I give them all as presents.
