Default Nanobrewery Article

Thought I would pass along an interesting article on Nanobreweries I came across for anyone who might be interested. There's some good comments below the article as well.

Thanks for posting the link to this!

My dreams of opening a brewpub have always been just that, dreams...

The whole nanobrewery concept is so utterly exciting and uplifting.

It's like we're bringing the country back to how it was before prohibition, with local breweries on nearly every corner, only with better beer!

I'm slowly setting myself on the path to open my own nanobrewery, hopefully with a taproom for consumption and growler fills. I would rather slowly build a word-of-mouth following over the course of several years and then make the leap with confidence into something bigger than put all of that risk up front. Being the sole provider of a family of four always smacks me in the face with that whole reality thing...

I have highly interested in opening a brewery. I just acquired a 16' X20' shed, I am going to convert into a brew house/pub. Some place I can watch a UK basketball game in peace with a beer and cigar. But as time passes and my skill and recipe's improve, I want to move toward going pro. I'm keeping the dream alive.

Every year, there are more breweries and brewpubs in the US.

I hope to add to that number soon.

i have been apprentice brewing at a nano brewpub lately(the keg and barrel). i guess it is a little different since it started out as a bar selling food(great food) and beer(largest selection in MS) but it is still about as nano as it gets. not sure how much the licensing was but i know the owner had to jump through hoops to get this approved. keep in mind this is in mississippi. as far as other cost go i do not see any reason why someone couldnt start a nano brewery for a minimal investment of $5000 plus legal fees. check out the brewery. bout as small as it gets.
