Kolsch Glass source
|
|
Traditional Kolsch glasses are great. They are light, tall and thin and nice to drink out of. I had some over the years but they have gone the way of most of my nice glasses (to pieces). I recently found a reasonable source and have ordered a few. I thought I would pass along the link in case others were interested.

Very nice, if they were a tad bit bigger I would pick some up. At only 6.8oz, I'd be making alot of trips to the fridge. But I guess my priorities, are diferent than those in Cologne.
Nice find though. Thanks

Thanks for the link.
Are you guys anal about drinking from the "correct glass for style" or do you drink out of what you have?
I am anal about drinking beer from a glass unless ity is BMC crap. However the type of glass really doesn't bother me as long as it looks cool.
I know that Vinnie Cilurzo at Russian River only sells pint glasses in the store, but serves all of his beers from big goblets. He says it lets the aromas escape or something, which is correct. I'm just not that anal about it.

I like the way good glass ware looks and feels. But I have drunk lagavulin out of a plastic McDonalds cup.
I will probably pick up a case of these, however the first use I think will be when my brother comes back from deployment. He always complains about how weak my cocktails are, see how he likes one of these filled with everclear.

I like Glassware, but I am not anal about it. There are times that I like I nice glass, something other then the big heavy mixer pint. These kind of fit that bill. I also like imperial half pints, but don't have a good source for those.

Funny you should mention BMC. I found a special ceramic for them:
Turns out you can use it for crap too.

I was wondering what that was for. I have a set of three at my house and a whole bunch at work!

Big goblet-style beer glasses are key. Like wine, they need that shape to really show the nose...I rarely drink beer out of anything but that shape. I've got a great Lucifer glass, some Hoegaarden glasses, and a whole set of 6 Unibroue ones. If nothing else, get a Bordeaux or Burgundy red wine glass.

I have a set of those Kolsch glasses from that very store (Lee Valley is Candian, eh?)and I really like them - it does suck that they are so small though.
Usually my favorite beer glass is a pinch-pint mug, I like the heft of them. I also like tulip pint glasses because they trap the aromas a bit better.
