Default Kickstarter

Has anyone else supported any beer companies/breweries/accessories on Kickstarter?

I found and backed an interesting koozie company:

and a brewery trying to start up in Ft Worth:

I have!! A guy on here (Two Kids Brewing) had a successful Kickstarter a few months ago. I think it is a great way to get your name out there and raise some cash.

Ha! Thanks for the shoutout. I keep an eye on kickstarter but haven't seen a ton of stuff I personally want to back, but it's a great tool and a lot of fun to back projects and see them succeed!

I agree. IF I decide to sponsor I want to know that it will actually make/break the brewery. There is a brewery Kickstarter going on right now that is looking for 30K but when you read the fine print they say they really need 750K!! They could very well meet their Kickstarter goal but NEVER become a brewery. Thus all/most of your rewards will never be fulfilled.

There are a couple local breweries around here that are doing that. One is already up and running and they are looking for 25K for an additional fermenter and a keg washer. The other is waiting on a location and just bought a 7BBL system from me.

I have backed several things on Kickstarter including one brewery. http://bricksidebrewery.com/ Brickside in Copper Harbor did a Kickstarter campaign to make that last push over the goal line. I chose to back his project because much of the funding was already secure and things were progressing. My contribution helped get the owner over that final hurdle and on to making beer.

I have backed a couple of product kickstarter projects that basically needed the funds to get a first production run done. In those cases the development and prototyping was already completed but the company needed the funds to get a manufacturer to build the product.

I am actually surprised more homebrewers don't use Kickstarter to fund their homebrewing...Kickstarter isn't only limited to new businesses. It can be used to fund just about anything.
