Default Irish Moss and kettle sludge

If Ive used Irish Moss in the boil and then pitched everything - sludge, boil hops etc into the primary will the beer still clear ? Or does IM only work when the wort is whirlpooled and the sludge left in the kettle ?

I dump it all into the primary and haven't had any problems. My beer comes out nice and clear. Heck, most times I don't even rack to a secondary.
