since I always ferment beer in a bucket, I've never seen that before

Thanks so much for posting that. My latest is a Kolsch currently bubbling away in the garage, sitting in a lager tank all covered with blankets.
I tire of slipping on the shoes every ten minutes, going to the garage, grabbing a flashlight just to watch it in awe and anticipation

Very sweet! I ferment in a bucket for now, but will be switching to a stainless conical. Same situation. I've never been able to see that other than Apfelwein. Thanks Orfy!
