Default I am using an IPA beer kit and I'd like to know if I have to squeeze the hop bag?

Ok....this is an extremely stupid question, but I'd like to know whether or not I have to squeeze the hop bag or just let it linger in the warm water. (I am talking about the step...where I need to pour hot water in the empty malt cans and add a bag full of hops to the water).

I would save as much delicious beer as I could. But you don't have to. Just sanitize your hands with starsan not soap

I use my dual layer fine mesh strainer & my plastic paddle to squeeze them out. I do this right before they go in the ice bath.

Yes, this is what I'd like to know. Basically, squeezing the bag till all the water comes out of it means a more delicious batch? More bitterness by the more hop?

Nah,just more flavor from what was there at the end of the boil when you squeeze them.

I've never heard of that step before? Why wouldn't you be adding the hops to the wort? I've heard of making a "hop tea" but I don't think that would be a step in a kit.

Sounds like a hop tea to me too. I use plain DME in the AE boiol for hop additions. Or the fresh wort in PM brews.
