Default How much beer is too much?

I was just thinking the other day, now that I've been homebrewing, I usually have a beer a day now that I have so much bottled all the time. I was telling this to a friend and he acted surprised and said "...wow, you drink beer everyday, that cant be good". And that got me thinking...is it? I always thought that as long as I'm not binging and just having a beer with dinner or lunch, thats OK. I looked it up and it said its actually good for you heart, and the B vitamins in brewer's yeast is good for your skin. but what about your liver?

Drinking moderately every day is better for you than binge drinking. Do you wake up feeling like **** after 1-3 beers every night? No. You you wake up feeling like **** after that 12 beer 3 shot weekend bender? Absolutely yes.

americans have way too much trouble with accepting alcohol in daily life.

I visited Madrid for 14 days, and everyone there drinks beer (even women) for lunch and dinner. and if not beer, wine.

Beer doesn't kill when you drink it everyday.

Also, apparently hops help prevent prostate cancer!

I couldn't agree more. In Europe, people drink all the time, and they're living just as long as we are. I can drink 2-3 Ipa's and not even get a buzz. I drink them because I enjoy them, not because if I don't have them I'll go into withdraws. A lot of doctors agree with the fact that drinking alcohol in the appropriate amounts (I think 1 shot, 1 beer, or one glass of wine), can be beneficial to your body. I would say one of the only negative health effects is that I drink beer most of the time with dinner and then one after dinner, which can lead to weight gain considering each beer is around ~200 kcal.

When I was studying abroad in Germany my host family would give me at least 2 beers with dinner every night and then try to convince me to take one up to drink while I worked on my homework.

Personally I think that responsible drinking daily is much healthier than binging on the weekends.

Agreed. That is why here binge drinking is so prevalent.

because "we" never drink so when we do we go out of control and binge

How about daily moderate drinking AND binge drinking on the weekend? It works for me!

I think a couple of beers a day is fine. If it got to the point that I "had" to have those drinks every day, then maybe I should have concern.
