How many fermenters going at once?
|
|
So right now I have 8 different brews in my basement that me and a friend have brewed. Pretty crazy. Not much room to move around but in the end its worth it. In my opinion this is a good amount to have going. Just wondering how many you all have had going at once? Does your husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend care and what do they say if they are upset?

I think there is another recent thread on this. The most I've ever had going was two. My wife didn't mind too much as they were in the corner of the dining room. Now that I have a new keezer, my old kegerator will be my new fermentation cabinet.

I had 5 going at once a month or two ago. It was still cold, so I had them all going in our walkin closet...wife was not thrilled. However, it was good leverage to buy all the goodies for my fermentation chamber in the garage . Now that I think of it, I've got 6 going right now too!
1 - Brown Ale
1 - Pale Ale
2 - Apfelwein
2 - Stout
Now that my fermentation chamber is built, I have 4 in there. The only stuff left in my closet is the Apfelwein, since it needs to be fermented a bit higher than the ales.

My roommate just bought a fermenter to join in on all the fun, so there are 5 in my apartment now, though one is empty until this weekend.

2 to 4 here, but during the cold season they get spread out all over the house for the proper temps. The wife doesn't mind much anymore because she started developing a taste for beer.... only took 5 years
Definitely worth having a bunch going so that you can build up a continual stock of properly aged fermented beverages.

I have 5 fermenters - 4 are currently full. 2 have sours though, so those have been tied up for a bit. I'm picking up another freebie this weekend and am gonna start doing 8 gallon batches (4 gal in ea. 5 gal carboy), to split yeast and do other experiments.
Both beers that are in primary need to be bottled - didn't do it this weekend, but should get it done tonight and tomorrow.
My wife doesn't really care - I have them in my own area. She rides horses and I brew beer, so we each have our smelly, yet compromising hobbies that make us happy. It's good synchrony.

I have 3 going right now. I let the stock get really low before we moved. I wans't thrilled with the idea of moving full carboys and buckets across town in a truck. I think one I build up the stock that I will probably only have one or two at a time.
SWMBO didn't like that I had 2 Buckets and 2 carboys in the kitchen, so I was able to build a keezer and I also have one of the lower double cabinets in the kitchen to use as a fermenter chiller. Works well.
She really doesn't care how many I have going at one time if they are out of the way and she doesn't have to see them all the time.
