Anybody here grow their own hops? I was wondering what kind of sunlight the different varieties need, what kind of yield you can expect, and if they smell like hops when they are growing.
lots of people grow -
Needs good sun-
Yield after a few years can be up to 5-8lbs per good size vine I believe
I tried this year and the crop failed. I intend to try again.
Those should get you started. I just searched "garden".
Not much of a smell while growing. Even in the middle of a hop farm, the smell isn't strong.
One of the more complete listings of hop types, growth characteristics and yields.http://www.freshops.com/usda_hop_desc2.html
[OSU keeps redesigning their site, so it is tough to find their list directly.]
