Default First competition excitement

So I have decided to enter my first competition! My ultimate goal in life is to open a brewery (it has been a dream since I was 17 and started researching home brewing and I am 22 now). I still have a lot to learn but craft beer is something I am very passionate about and take pride in. I brewed up a pumpkin pie cream ale a couple weeks ago and took a couple bottles to a party a few nights ago to get some feedback, and they told me it was the best pumpkin beer they have ever had. Whether they are just being nice or they actually do love it, it has given me the confidence to enter it. The competition is in late September so I think its the perfect timing for that beer to age since I just bottled it. I am also collaborating with a friend who I am getting into brewing and we are brewing a fall apple spice ale and entering it together just for kicks.

Do you guys remember your first competition? Were you as excited as I am? Winning something would be a plus, but what I want more than anything is just for people to drink and critique my beer!

I entered my first one this year (after a year of brewing), the actual awards ceremony was fairly dull, but it was great to talk to other homebrewers before and after the event and it was at a brewery so a few brews were in order too. That said, the best part was getting some feedback, seeing my stout get high marks (just not high enough to win anything).

Good to hear. This is at Fat Heads Brewery in Ohio so like your said, definitely drinking a few beers with other home brewers should be a pretty awesome time.
