Finally Brewing Again! 12/14-16
|
|
After 2+ months of not beng able to brew, I am finally brewing again this weekend. Tomorrow, weather permitting, I'm making a big-ish (~1.065 OG) ale to celebrate moving in with my fiancee and, well... basically a new life altogether!
Who else is brewing this weekend?

Me me me!!! Big ol porter this weekend. Was gonna be my hobbit ale but after reading howtobrew.com about toasting malts, it said they need to chill for a couple weeks after toasting. Oh well, I need a porter anyway.

I'm still not really brewing, but I'll be bottling a gallon of Apple/Pear cider.
Congrats on the new place!

I just finished my brew for the weekend! Had the day off today so knocked it out today. Brewed Denny Conn's Bourbon Vanilla Imperial Porter and came in right on his expected OG of 1.086. Tasted fantastic going into the fermenter. Very excited about this one! The Vanilla Beans that I ordered from ebay showed up in the mail today too! This one oughta keep me warm in February!

I did however, harvest a gallon freezer bag of Juniper berries last time I was at the in-laws house. When I do get brewing again, I want to make a Juniper Ale or a Juniper Porter.

Funny you mention that Talley. I just bought two more carboys today so I can whip up some apple/pear cider this weekend. I made 5 gallons Apfelwein and 2 three gallon carboys of hard cider last weekend. My hubby thinks that 9 carboys are enough but I think the addition of two more is cool because cider takes so long and I need to leave a few for beer. Wait....that makes 11 carboys. I think I need an even dozen. I mean 11 is such an odd number.
p.s. Lots of bottling for me too. I have 15 gallons of brew waiting to be bottled.
