Default Figuring out my taste in beer

Well im not the largest beer drinker but i plan on doing some home brewing because i need a new hobby. i like sam adams boston lager and fat tire but not sam adams boston ale(found that out last night when i bought a case)it just isnt drinkable for me. Ive had other beers that are ok but nothing really makes me say hey im going to buy more of that. other then boston lager and fat tire.

So now what are some good beers that you would recommend trying for a new brewer to try out.

Thanks in advance

Goose Island is a great brewery that makes good beers that appeal to a broad range of tastes, but with a "craft" bent to them. Since you're in Elgin, you should be able to find most of their products very easily. You'll probably like Honkers Ale if you like Sam Adams lager. Their IPA, brown ale, and oatmeal stout are also all good.

Also, probably generally give the Sam Adams line a break. A lot of their beers are pretty crappy.
