Default Favor to ask of a West Coaster

So, last week I had my first little taste of Pliny the Elder by Russian River. Loved it. The only thing I didn't like about it was that I was limited to only 2 3oz samples.

So, the favor.... if somebody out on the west coast that can buy Pliny at their local package store would be willing to ship me a few bottles I would be psyched. I would of course send you cash for the beer and shipping. Or, if there is anything out here that you want I would be willing to send it out to you in a swap. If anybody is willing please let me know. Thanks much!

If you have a Whole Foods in your area, you should ask them if they are getting Pliny, or if they can get it for you.

Here is a Interview with Vinnie.

What beer do you have to offer in trade?

Isn't it hard to send alcohol over the mail. Is it even legal?

No you can mail beer via fedex or UPS, just not USPS but I do it all the time. A large flat rate Priority Mail box fits 3 22 oz bombers nicely with the needed bubble wrap and ziplock baggies (bag each bottle so that if they break, they don't leak, the main complaint of USPS is leaking boxes).

Why not make a batch? I don't get any RR here and I missed out on this years Younger yet again (it gets more popular with each year, Falling Rock will have two 5 gallon kegs in Denver tomorrow but I won't be there as the last 3 sold out in 37 minutes and it's a 6 hour drive AND I'll be there the following weekend for the Furthur shows) so I think the best bet to to DIY. The Tasty McDole recipe is supposed to be pretty damn good...

Oh, I plan on making a batch, but I would also like to have a commercial example on hand. It's nice to have and also would like to be able to compare a few to my own version.

I hear ya. I was hoping to do the same for the younger but I was denied this year.

I've had Pliny the Elder a bunch of times as my sis lives in norcal and she has a phenomenal craft brew centric liquor store right down the street. Personally I think the Port Hop15 was a better Imperial IPA. I like the Elder don't get me wrong but there are others I enjoy a bit more.

By US Postal service, yes. By UPS/FedEx, no. But I never send beer, I send yeast samples.

I'd be up for a West Coast/Midwest swap for some pliny.

Never tried it yet.

Sorry about that, they talk to Vinnie about distribution in this interview. If it does not work again the article is at ***********.com (The full pint dot com)(<-all one word) I don't know why it keeps censoring it, I'm in California not China!

I've brewed the Mcdole clone, and its close, but its tough to get it spot on to Pliny. I've shipped beers through Fedex too, it's legal as long as you are not selling them.
