Default Effiency question...
I did an American Ale today...I have 1.060 FG...I have a starter ready....
I was shooting for 70%...Which was 1.052...What is my % eff. ? Thanks

I used your receipe Pol...as close as I could...
But I boiled uncovered and I only got 4 gallons...
I'm going to boil and cool 3/4 gal of water and add it...
That should make the FG closer to the target....
I did learn a few things today...I may have to make a 10 gal MLT...

Which beer did you do??

You got 1.060 at 4 gallons, that changes things with the eff. #

If you were shooting for 5 gallons at 1.052, and got 1.060 with 4 gallons volume, your eff. was 64%

High Sierra...I came up a little short before the boil...And the mistake carried thru...
I made a yeast starter for the 1.060 FG and it went crazy for 8 hours before I threw it in...
The cold break looks good...

Cool cool!! Well, it should be hella good beer at any rate. I have nevere brewed anything that I didnt like... they have some character sometimes, but I love them.

Like The Pol pointed out, you have to know your volume before you can figure out your efficiency. It's not about sugar concentration, but about total sugars in solution, and that depends on volume.

No matter what, rock on. It sounds like you made some happy beer.

Thanks alot for the reply Texlaw...I have a hard time figuring volume for multiple pots...
I am going to take a day off brewing and find a propane tank for my turkey fryer...
I pitched the yeast starter at 6pm ..and by midnight had steady bubbles...
This is better than the nearly 24 hours it took when I poured straight out of the WLP 001 bottle...
I think I will brew the receipe you put out for Argentine Cascades Sun...
