I love bass, one of my fav. pale ale's. But I have had it at places where I almost threw up.

This is interesting as this discussion has come up (I think) more than once now. It was the same topic iirc. It would seem that Bass is indeed a hit or miss experience based on the collective input...

IIRC last time the importer of Bass changed in the states, they went on a PR/"educational" campaign to combat the issues with horrid tasting bass on draught. Personally I am not a huge fan of bass (and have not had it for years) but when I do sample from either bottle or tap, I stick to places with decent turnover.

I look at Bass the same way as Guinness. If you get it at a bar that sells enough to keep it fresh, it's great. If you go to a primarily BMC bar that has Bass/Guinness/Newcastle on tap chances are it's been sitting around for awhile and it's gonna suck... If I see it in a liquor store and the bottles have a fair amount of dust built up on them, buy something else...

the only ale you can get at certain airports is Bass. I'm really not fond of it. I'll go for a Fosters over a Bass.

I had a 12er of Bass around superbowl time. It was probably a little old. It smelled funny in the bottle. However when I poured into a glass the smell was nearly gone, if not significantly better.

Yikes! Not sure I've ever heard anyone say they'd take a Foster's over anything.

In certain airlines/airports, that's pretty much the choice. maybe next time I'll have some wine or a mixed drink...

This week on Beer Hunter: Pale Ales!

I cannot stand pale ales...at least the 2 commercial brews I tried: Sierra Nevada Pale ale, and Boulevard Pale Ale.

Way
Too
Bitter

maybe someday I'll grow some taste buds that can handle it...but not this week.
