Default Doing business at a LHBS

While shopping with my wife on Friday I realized that we were just a few miles away from the closest LHBS so I went over to get some hops to finish up a couple of brews. I walk to the hops frdige and see a sign, "Hops can only be purchased in quantities to complete a recipe". I'm not buying anything else this trip so I'm concerned... but I ask. The owner tells me, "Oh, you support us pretty often...how many do you need?" I thought that was pretty nice... and just gives me one more reason why I like doing business at this LHBS.

My LHBS is the best...

The only thing I buy online is hops and when I tell them that I get a better deal online they totally understand... And they also inform me that if I place an order early they can beat the prices I'm getting online. I just don't think that far in advance...

Consider yourselves fortunate that you have a LHBS that is truly local. My closest store is 30 miles away in a town I don't travel to very often. When I know I'm going to be there at a time when he's open, I plan to shop there, it's just not very often that the opportunity is there.

Hops aren't hard to come by anymore though so I wonder why he's rationing.

My LHBS is not so L. It's about 40miles away. I try to buy from him when possible but it's so convenient to buy and shop the wonderful selection on the internet. Besides, he is kind of weird. It's almost like your bugging him or something when you ask for an opinion or guidance. I do know that he has been short certain varities of hops over the summer. Have not been in lately to know if his stocks are back up. Good luck!
