Default Does trub, break etc affect refractometer readings?

Should the OG read from a refractometer be them same if samples are taken post-boil from the kettle and again after transfering to the primary through a strainer (and prior to pitching)? Just wondering if the refractometer is affected by the presence of trub, break etc.

As long as you don't get much solid material in the drop placed on the refractometer you won't have any different reading. That's assuming that the two samples are at the same temperature, or you are doing a temperature correction. Both a refractometer and a hydrometer are measuring the liquid density, solids don't alter that.
