Default Cloning a beer?

I found a commericial brew that I like--Pocono Pale Ale by The Lion Brewery in Wilkes Barre, PA. They're not really a microbrewery either, but they're not all that big. The beer itself smells of hops and tastes of hops, but it's not overpowering. It's not the beer you drink for a sleep aid, because it's more of what you'd call a session beer.

That said, has anyone ever tasted this? If I could clone it, that would be awesome. In my area it sells for around $22 a case, so I don't mind paying for it. But, I want to make it my summer's pet project. I'm guessing it's lightly dry hopped. But what kind of hops are they using? Even if I can't clone this, I'd like to brew other beers with a similar hop profile because the stuff aint bad.

Do you subscribe to BYO? You can always write them and in every issue they will have a clone recipe requested by a reader.

Well, I suspected Cascade, not knowing nearly enough about hops. I wonder if dry hopping makes that much difference. Also, what kind of a hop is Mt. Hood, and how might I use it?

Mt. Hood is a derivative of Hallertauer, and it's usually used as an aroma hop in lagers.

Email the brewer and ask for help. They are typically very receptive to HBers trying to copy what they've done. Never hurts to ask anyway! Cheers!

+1 on this. I've had a lot of luck getting recipes from people just by asking.
