Taste styles before you brew...
I'm stingy, and I'm not thrilled with the idea of paying top dollar for single bottles of classic imports. But I'd never had a kolsch before, and thought it would be a good (and inexpensive) summer brew for a homebrewer who currently lacks the faciliities to make lagers.
So I ponied up about $3 for a pint bottle of Reissdorf kolsch.
This is a pleasant enough beer but just absolutely not my style. Not a "beer lover's beer," in my opinion. The only time I'd consider brewing it would be for a summer party--it might be just the ticket for the standard lager drinkers in the crowd. Live and learn.
