Default Can I use a TDS meter to guage gravity?

I use a total dissolved solids meter for hydroponics (legal!). Has anyone ever used one for brewing and if so with success? Thanks!

Dissolved sugars dont affect the conductivity of a liquid so a TDS will not be able to pick up the differences based on sugar. If you are looking to use it for pre mash water conditioning then maybe, but not for gravity readings
