Default Brix to PPG

I talked to a fellow at California Concentrate who makes some of the LME that MoreBeer sells.
When i asked what the PPG was he told me that all of their LME is 80 Brix. How does that convert to PPG?

The Brix scale works as a percentage of sugars? Ie 80 Brix is 80%? And therefore if 46 PPG is 100% sugar an 80 Brix LME is ~37 PPG?
