Default Boiling wort

Hey, I'm boiling a wart for my third batch, first batch with a propane burner. When I brought the malt and hops to a boil I began to see black flakes floating in the wart. Is this anything to be worried about? Is the batch ruined? Thanks.

If your wort has black flakes, it is either scorched or you had something on your pot when you started. You definitely don't want either, but maybe it won't be too bad if it's not burnt too much. Maybe it's burnt on the bottom from the extact, and that's where the black flakes are coming from? Can you check by pouring out the wort into another bucket and see?

The pot was def clean. I am almost sure it's from heating up to fast and burning the extract. Once I saw it I began stirring and haven't seen any additional just the original 5 or so flakes. Should I go forward with fermentation or scrap the batch? Thanks!

I'd at least pour it through a fine mesh strainer into something else, like yooper was sayin. Maybe if you have some other big pots,or big ss mixing bowls...or if you're sure it's only a few flakes. Then just strain it into the FV. It'll help aerate it at that point too.

Whatever it is should settle out during primary or secondary fermentation. Nothing will be alive after the boil.
