Normally, I'd be willing to bet that about 10% of them are true... but since you found them on some random Internet page, maybe 15%.

That's not true. A Bride Ale was the name of the feast, not the name for a beer.

Yeah, I've heard "the rule of thumb" being the thickness of the cane/switch you were allowed to use to beat your wife with. I always questioned the validity of that as well.

It probably didn't come from brewing... but the use of the thumb to check temperature is true.
