Default Anyone know why Austin HB keeps substituting white labs yeast?

I've had great success with wyeast and they offer it as an opition, but my last two orders have come with white and i just tried to order the belgian noel with wyeast and it automatically switched it to white when i went to check out.

re they not carrying wyeast anymore? i know it says they may substitute a comparable yeast if out of stock, but this would be three orders in a row.

Could be an inventory thing, or perhaps a bug on the website that is forcing the selection of White Labs over Wyeast. I think a call or email to them is in order to get the final word.

It's probably a glitch with their website. They are very open to wyeast in the walk in store.

Interesting--when I got the order that I made during the Oktoberfest sale, I thought, "did I really order WL?" Looking at the order, I guess I did, although I was pretty sure I picked Wyeast 1272 instead of WLP008 when I added it to the cart. In any case, I didn't sweat it, because I didn't really have a preference.

But now I'm thinking: maybe I didn't pick WL for that kit. I did order (and receive) Wyeast 3068 for the Hefe kit, though. Maybe I just screwed up on the other order... who knows.

chances are, you didn't crew up--i thought the same thing after the initial order, so much so that i made sure it was wyeast the second time and it still came white. this time I went as far as to review the order before placing and noticed that it already changed it to white before i even submitted it for processing. This could validate the theory of an Internet problem more than an out of stock problem since it switched it before i even placed the order.

im gonna just give them a call, thanks all.

Why don't you write them an email and ask? Seems like that is a better way to get the answer.

Why are you complaining? WL is better anyway!

I keed, I keed.

That's is really odd, I would be quite pissed if they subbed an ingredient and didn't tell me.

Again, simple solution, write them or call them and ask why. Some of us might be brewing gods, but we don't have all the answers.

Disclaimer: I am not a brewing god, nor do I have all the answers.

Please come to us first if you have a question or problem. I probably have the answer and the fellow posters will not. Let me know your name so I can look into the order.
