Default Amber Ale Suggestions

Hello all! I just got back from an irish pub that had an excellent amber irish ale on tap. Is was made by a local microbrew destributer, so no chance on getting the recipe. I seem to really enjoy the amber ales that are well balanced, with a great aroma. Does anyone have any ideas for a good irish amber ale recipe? Thanks for any ideas.

I'm a big fan of Jamil's recipe. I put a 1/2 lb of Victory in mine, but that's out for you.

I think you'll need to steep some specialty grains for a good Irish red. No problem though, just soak them in your brewing water around 150F ish for a 1/2 hour or so, using a nylon mesh bag, or just strain the grains out with a mesh colander if you have one.

6 lbs. Muntons DME

****Steeping grains*****
1/3 lb Caramel 40
1/3 lb Caramel 120
1/3 lb Roasted Barley 300 SRM

1 oz. 5.5% East Kent Goldings or similar for 60 min. Willamette works great if you can't find Goldings.

Clean yeast, US-05/WLP001/Wyeast 1056, or Nottingham

Are you sure you can't get the recipe? You maybe surprised the information you can get with a kindly worded email. I have been able to get recipes from several breweries just by asking.

This is a recipe from my homebrew shop and a lot of people really liked it. This was also my first brew ever.

7.70 lbs light malt extract (syrup)
0.75 lbs Crystal 60
0.25 lbs Vienna
0.125 lbs chocolate
0.50 lbs malto dextrin

Target 6aau 30minutes
Styrian Golding 1oz 10min
Tettnang 0.5oz 5min

I used nottinghams, but other recommendations are White labs german ale, kolsch yeast, and white labs European ale yeast

estimated SG- 1.056

this may end up maltier than what you want, but it is atleast something

I like all the suggestions. Thank you all very much. Eric, I did ask for the recipe. Unfortunately, they get their "custom brew" from a local microbrew who purchased the recipe. I asked the pub manager, but he had no idea what a speciality grain was! Happy brewing!
