Default AHS Belgian Half Wit

Just about to start up my brew day brewing AHS all grain Belgian Half Wit. I just read over the directions and it looks like it calls for just a 30 minute boil. I never done anything short of 60 minutes.

Has anyone brewed this beer before? Did you boil for 30 minutes only? I'm assuming this is to get a less bitter beer....Maybe this is why it is called the "half" wit. Any input appreciated.

If the recipe definitely says 30 minutes, I'd follow it. It's not a hoppy style. Sometimes Forrest from Austin HomeBrew often posts here and may be able to confirm the instructions.

I know 30 minutes seems a little off but it is correct. I did their Belgian White Ale and it was a 30 minute boil. It resulted in a excellent beer. So definitely follow their directions.

What he said... 30 minutes is correct. On the recipe sheet I should put "30 minutes (not a typo, seriously 30 minutes)".

My Wit recipes do not have a bittering hop. It is all about the flavor.

Forrest,

30 minutes sounds like it is too short to drive off DMS...is it submerged in the flavor profile or just not important in your recipe?

I believe if brewing extracts you dont need a full 60 minute boil to ward off DMS, as part of this should have been done by the extractor. Same concern as doing late addition w/ extract, which people do all the time.
