The Party Pig® is a self contained 8.5 liter (2.25 gallon) reusable beer package/dispenser that keeps beer fresh and carbonated. The package is easy to carry and fits into standard refrigerators.

What makes the Party Pig® so different?

The package requires no CO2 tanks or cartridges because it uses a self-inflating pressure pouch. As beer is dispensed from the PET plastic bottle, through an attached push-button valve, the internal pressure pouch expands and maintains a constant 15-20 pounds per square inch of pressure. This is accomplished by combining citric acid and bicarbonate of soda in a controlled manner to produce CO2 gas, which remains inside the pressure pouch and does not come in contact with the beer.

This new package uses the patented Q-Paq® technology to maintain beer freshness while dispensing the perfect draught every time.

Using the Party Pig® will save you time and money because everything is reusable except for the pressure pouch. With care, the components will last for many years.

The Party Pig® is manufactured and marketed by Quoin (pronounced "coin") and is sold directly to craft brewers and to homebrew supply shops.

Price: $40.00
Pros: Easy to use, clean and sanitize; compact, easy to carry and fits in the fridge
Cons: Fairly expensive pressure pouches; there is no way to tell if pressure pouches are fresh, and stale ones don't work very well
Recommended? Yes

Comments: The product itself works fine and if you are looking for a compact beer container this is it. It fits into a fridge so if you don't have enough room for a kegerator you can still have beer on draught from the pigs. I used it for beers that needed different levels of carbonation and it worked fine as well (up to the safe upper limit which I guess is 2.5-3 volumes)

But that's the only reason to get it. I thought if I get a few pigs I don't need to get a kegging setup. That didn't work as planned. As long as I was using the pouches that came with the pigs they worked fine, dispensing the beer to the last drop. Then I bought a few replacement pouches that failed to create enough pressure to keep the beer carbonated and dispense it. I guess the pouches were not fresh enough (I think they don't recommend using pouches if they are older than 6 months) but since there is no expiration date on the pouches you can't tell. So you risk 2.5 gallons of beer every time hoping the pouch is fresh. I didn't like that. The pigs are not very cheap either considering you need to buy the pressure pouches.

Bottom line: if you have room get a kegging system. It maybe a little bit more to set up but will give you more flexible and reliable method of carbonating and dispensing your wonderful homebrew! Cheers!

Quoin Party Pig
Pros: easy to use
Cons: rebuying pressure pouches
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I love mine, very easy to use and clean. Wish they had a clover clamp type tap to bottle connection instead of a screw plate clamp. Would highly recommend over mini kegs, growlers, and other smaller type serving vessels.

Quoin Party Pig
Pros: Easy first step into kegging, fits in the fridge, design is easy to use, clean, sanitize, etc. Folks at Quoin are responsive to requests for info and advice
Cons: Nothing major, gasket is a little tricky to seat, but not that bad
Recommended? Yes

Comments: This is basically as advertised, an easy to use keg without the need for CO2 or other kegging gear. It's basically a big bottle. I've emptied my first keg and it worked great, good flow from the pig right up until it emptied. And it did a great job emptying (something I was skeptical about going in) leaving only a few ounces of beer. The pig does fit in your fridge, but it is a very dominating presence, I'm pretty sure the wife will make me get a second fridge for this (not a bad thing). Also, there were a few minor things I had questions with and emailed Quoin - I recieved very prompt and helpful responses. The only minor negative I have is getting the gasket to align, it's very thin leaving little room for error, still not a major problem and I've been able to properly seal all the pigs I've filled without leakage. If you are interested in kegging, this is an easy, relatively inexpensive and non-intimidating way to start. I am using the pig for half of my 5 gallon batches, bottling the rest - cutting bottling time accordingly as the pig is much easier/quicker than bottling the same amount
