One stroke of the racking cane/piston assembly will start a siphon when immersed in as little as six inches of beer or wine; less than six inches may require a second stroke. Includes a removeable diverter piece (essentially a big racking tube tip) to minimize sediment pickup.

Fermtech Autosiphon
Pros: easy to use, very fast
Cons: none
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Just racked with my 1/2" auto siphon, and am in love with the thing. Easy to sanitize and use, and it moves beer much quicker than a 3/8" tube. Highly recommended.

Fermtech Autosiphon
Pros: Works perfectly
Cons: Feels flimsy
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I don't know how I survived without one of these things. It works perfectly but it does feel like it might break when you're attaching or removing a line.

Fermtech Autosiphon
Pros: worked good the two times I used it
Cons: broke at the elbow the third time I used it
Recommended? No

Comments: I liked this while it lasted. I was not using it (I don't think) too forcefully when It broke at the elbow.

I was able to cut the broken part out and attach the hose to the (now) straight tube and get it to work- but the hose is too short for easy use- it now has to go upwards and then to where I'm pumping to and thus the hose tends to kink. I tried to get it replaced at the LBS without success less than 6 months after I bought it there. Since I usually brew/ transfer and bottle with a friend, the second pair of hands helps overcome the difficulties.

I'm guessing that it is a rare problem- the LBS and the people on this forum have never heard of this occuring apparently.

I wish there was some reinforcement at the elbow. If I get another one I'll see about "beefing-up" that area with a brace or maybe a coating of epoxy.

Comments: Siphoning was something I had a lot of trouble doing when I first started homebrewing. When I bought an auto-siphon things got much easier. If you are new to homebrewing, spent the extra few dollars and get an auto-siphon. It will save you a great deal of hardship!

Fermtech Autosiphon
Pros: Really easy to use
Cons: Not heavy duty - doesn't look like it's going to last long
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Really makes siphoning easy. Just make sure your hose fits tightly and it's one pump and go!

It would be nice to see a higher quality model made out of something other than plastic.

Fermtech Autosiphon
Pros: multi-function, ease of use, inexpensive
Cons: trub cap fits loosely
Recommended? Yes

Comments: An autosiphon makes siphoning as simple and troublefree as possible. Even if the siphon is accidentally stopped starting it again is a breeze. In addition this can be used as a 'wine thief' to snag a sample of your brew (even out of a half full carboy) for testing purposes.

Fermtech Autosiphon
Price: $12.00
Pros: Easy siphoning, worth the 12 bucks!
Cons: Hard to clean hop leaves from inlet valve.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Saves a lot of hassle when siphoning beer. I also use it to pump sanitizer through racking hoses for cleaning purposes. I have used it in water up to 170 degrees with no issues.

If you are siphoning beer with a lot of hop leaves, use a hop screen or grain bag tied over the inlet to prevent cloggage and difficulty cleaning.

Fermtech Autosiphon
Price: $12.00
Pros: Simple and quick to use
Cons: Quality of product
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Easy to use, easy to sanitize etc. Dismantling is simple as well, but now that I have hd mine apart several times to clean it and just to figure out how it works, the bottom tip does not click back on as firmly as it did when new. I am afraid it's going to pop off the next time I use it.
A handy tool and a good time saver.
Reccomended, esp for realative HB noobs.
