Price: $12.00 Pros: Open top for easy access when adding or removing fruits, etc. Easy cleaning Cons: Scratchable, develops odors after extended use. Recommended? Yes
Comments: Buckets have their place in brewing and if used appropriately, they are difficult to replace.

Price: $10.00 Pros: Easy to clean
Cons: I am concerned about scratching Recommended? Yes
Comments: Great to start out with I am sure that I will end up getting more so that I can get more then one brew going in primary at a time.
The only thing I worry about is scratching but they are cheep so replacing is not a prob.
Help keep light out too.
even if I need to replace every year they are cheep so not a big deal.

Price: $18.00 Pros: Easy to clean. Does the job without effort Cons: Looks amateur. Recommended? Yes
Comments: This bucket is a starter kit, however, I have used it more than the carboys because it actually works very well and is super easy to clean. I might just stick to it!

Price: $70.00 Pros: All the basic stuff necessary to start Cons: No real cons - just nitpicky stuff that would crank up the price anyway. Recommended? Yes
Comments: The big 7.8 gallon bucket (with spigot) gives lots of room for primary fermentation. The 5 gallon Better Bottle carboy is great for secondary instead of glass.
I did add some things to the kit to round out the equipment for my first brew: a carboy handle, an auto-siphon, and a digital probe thermometer with 1 degree increments and an alarm (lifesaver! - $15 at Wal-Mart). You can find pictures of these things in my blog and so far I have nothing ad to say about the kit. The price is reasonable and the parts are easy to use.

Price: $13.00 Pros: Lid locks great Cons: Not a clear carboy Recommended? Yes
Comments: This came as part of a starter kit, its more economical than a glass carboy, but you dont get to see whats going on. if you have the scratch go for the see through option.

Price: $50.00 Recommended? Yes
Comments: Nothing fancy here. Just a bucket. Doing it's job. First batch in it now. Bought it from Keystone Homebrew in Montgomeryville, PA. Cool guys. I told them they had a capper already, so they took it out and subtracted the cost of a capper from the shelf from my bill.

Comments: Awesome quality bucket. Easy to clean. Be careful to attach the airlock before fitting the lid or the rubber seal might drop into your must -- speaking from personal experience.

Comments: No problems so far. I don't know any other way so this will work for now. Will look to upgrade to 6 or 6.5 gallon carboy as I get further into the process as I've heard this will produce a better quality brew.

Comments: These work well for homebrewing purposes. I own 3 and they work well. They stain a little but it comes out with good cleaning and they hold some smell but it fades with time. I have had one for several years since i got into brewing and it has held up well.

Comments: First fermenter, working fine so far. Have brewed two batches of beer with a heffeweissen in the bucket right now. So far that is two batches and two bubbling airlocks.
