Pros: With good care, these buckets treat you really well. I find the added spigot to be superfluous, as I prefer the near-bottom accuracy of a siphon wand.
Cons: Didn't need the spigot - creates a risk of a bacteria collection point that needs to be disassembled and cleaned regularly.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Single-item price listed from Midwest, but I purchased it as part of a Brewer's Best homebrewing starter kit. I had found the best price through eBay on a posting from Midwest ($85 + $25 shipping to NH). Standard good quality equipment.

Pros: Simple. Easy to use. Easy to clean. It's a bucket. Can easily have a spigot added for bottling purposes.
Cons: Some lids do not seal properly, which is not entirely problematic during a primary fermentation. You cannot see through the bucket to watch fermentation progress.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: The Ale Pail is simply a bucket, but it's a great bucket. It offers the perfect amount of headspace for a 5-6 gallon brew to ferment unless you are brewing something with a bit more volcanic fermentation. In that case, you will want something else. All in all, the Ale Pail is a perfect fermenter; easy to use, easy to clean, easy to mix in, and easy to rack from. It is also quite durable.

Pros: This Brewer's Best ale pale is working great so far! The lid fits ultra tight,& I love the hose-style spigot. Way easier to turn, flows fast,& seals well too! It even comes with the airlock grommet. & the bucket-style handle makes it easier to get a good grip when moving it.
Cons: Can't think of a single one.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: The first thing I must say about this product is this. DO NOT force the spigot into the hole near the bottom! Rather, screw it in straight & carefully till it seats snugly. Do not try to over-tighten,or you'll strip it out where the spigot will be loose! Then,go inside the bucket & screw on the plastic jam nut, holding the spigot on the outside. You now will have a good sealing spigot. Other than that, this 6.5G fermenter is great for 5-5.5G batches of brew. Nothing leaks,a small, dark colored tee shirt fits over it to help keep light out (which can skunk beer),& helps keep ambient air temps from fluctuating brew temps as much. Just a great product!

Price: $15.99
Pros: easy to move, room for foamy krausen
Cons: can't see the fermentation
Recommended? Yes

Comments: this piece of equipment is a necessity for any homebrewer. even if you are not fermenting in it, a spigot can be easily installed to use as a bottling bucket. Also very good to rack into out of a carboy so you can clean carboy and rack back into the carboy for secondary.

Pros: Great bucket for fermentation, or sanitation! Comes with drilled and grommeted lid for easy placement of airlock or b/o tube. Have measurements printed on the side so you can easily hit your target volume!
Cons: None.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Great bucket with measurements on the side! The lid has been pre-drilled and grommeted for easy placement of an airlock or b/o tube. Obviously has a handle for easy lifting and movement. Very high (food) grade bucket made of very thick poly.

Price: $13.00
Pros: - Lightweight - Light does not pass through - Easy to clean/sanitize - Has a handle - Stackable with others if storing - Easy to Mod with spigots/thermometers
Cons: -Degrades -Can scratch easily and let microbes other than yeast hide -Lids wear out and does not create good seal
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Great to have these around. Cant go wrong with a fermenting bucket even if it is your first or one of many fermenters....it gets the job done. Just dont look for long term use out of it.
