Default Ricki's Cheesemaking Kit - First Batch Mozzarella

I completed my first batch of Mozzarella cheese a few weeks ago. I took a bunch of pictures but I am now just getting around to posting them up.

The kit itself is pretty straight forward and the directions are slightly vague but good enough to point you in the right direction. The hardest issue that I had was finding milk that was suitable to use. The first attempt was unfortunately a failure because I had used Ultra Pasteurized milk.

The second attempt was successful and here are the pics! Bruntons Milk which is made about 15 miles from where I live was used for this batch. My overall impressions were good. The cheese was good but a little bland. I am guess that has to do with the milk I used more than the process.

Nice! I'm definitely interested in making some cheeses. How long did it take?

It took less than an hour. The cool thing is that the kit will make 30 batches of cheese and it only cost 25 bucks. I enjoyed the process and am excited to make some more cheese soon.

Where do u get this kit? I'm from WI and love cheese but I live in China and it doesn't taste good and is insanely expensive. Wondering if I can buy it when I'm back in June and give it a try over here.

I bought this kit at my LHBS but it is available everywhere. You can order it from one of the homebrew websites that are liked on this site or directly from the people that make it at http://www.cheesemaking.com/cheesema...beginners.html

The quality of your cheese is going to depend on the milk that you use!
