Default cheese wax replacement?

Hi
I live in a contry where there is no cheese wax in stores?
can some one tell me a good replacement of cheese wax?
oil, candle wax..?

I've seen instructions for using a natural cloth (like a gauze) to cover a cheddar at www.cheesemaking.com.

As far as I can find out, there is no good wax substitute that emulates the wax. The cloth covering allows mold to grow before the cheese dries enough to allow the mold to fall off naturally. The picture of it looked pretty ugly, but you know there is good cheese underneath that mottled surface.

bit of an update. You had me curious.

I'm wondering if you couldn't use soy wax. Much lower melting temp and readily available in many places. As it is, my wife and I make soy candles for Christmas gifts so maybe I could "borrow" some of that wax and try it this year.

Side-note: I am planning to make cheese this year (when the temps around here are lower than Hades) so who knows, maybe plant based waxes may work.
