You're not on your own with this.
This question gets asked at least once a week? Sometimes once a day.

Do you have gravity readings?
What type of fermenter are you using?
Why do you think there is no activity?
Is there any foam?
What yeast are you using?
What is your fermentation temperature?

Thanks for the help.
Im using a 6 gallon fermenter with a nozzle on the front.
I dont think its active because its not gurgling after 21/2
days.I havnt opened it to see if theres any foam.I used
a pack of dry yeast. I poured it in a bowl of 4oz lukewarm
water and let it proof. I thought. The worts temp was about
80 degs.
If the yeast didnt work for some reason, is it possible to
just proof somemore yeast and try it again.

80F wort could have fermented over night. The only way to be certain is to check the gravity.

As David said, and Orfy suggested, gravity reading would tell you for sure.
Sounds like you're using a bottling bucket as a fermenter. Nothing wrong with that if you closed the spigot, but the lids often leak a little which releases the pressure and prevents the airlock from bubbling. I'd take a quick peek under the lid, and see if there is any krausen (foam). If there is, (or has been), you've got nothing to worry about. If not, you could add some more yeast, but I don't think it will be necessary.
