Default skimming the hot break - do I need to?

This may be a silly question - is it neccessary to skim the hot break during the boil ?

I have never done it .. should I

I've read that some people do, but I don't think it's necessary. It will settle on its own.

I think part of the purpose of the cold break by rapid chilling is to help precipitate what got released in the hot break, that didn't evaporate with the boiloff.

I skimmed on my first few batches, then didn't on a few. No real difference, as far as I could tell.

For the most part hot break removal is more critical when brewing pilsners or other lighter beers of this nature. The effects of removing hot break are not as noticeable when brewing ales and such. Luckily the design of my system naturally removes most of the hot break (so long as I use whole hops).
