Secondary length for Dubbel?
 
Hey all. Just curious about your input on how long to leave my Dubbel in the Secondary to condition. Ferm. activity ceased after about 6 days. In the past I've bottled after a week in 2nd-ary but I wonder if there is value in conditioning Belgians more.

I'd let that brew sit for at least another month in secondary. Yes, there is value in conditioning Belgians longer.

Leaving it on the yeast cake in primary for a bit longer would be beneficial as well. If its too late, don't sweat it.

Got a gravity and yeast strain for the beer? That would help make an educated guess for conditioning time.

No need to secondary anyway, so why bother with it. Let it sit on the yeast cake for 2-4 weeks after reaching stable FG and don't worry.

Just to follow up here. Thanks all for input. I actually didn't end up racking to 2ndry. Left it on primary 18 days, about 13 days past cessation of apparent ferm. O.G. 1.068. F.G. 1.010. WLP 0500 Trappist yeast. Temp: 68-70 deg.

In future I will perhaps leave it a bit longer. Will report on results once carbonated.

My inclination would be a third week on the yeast and then a week or less in the secondary just to precipitate any remaining crud.
