If I have a recipe for a 5 gallon fermenter, would just cutting the ingredients in half be feasible for a 2.5 gallon fermenter? Do I have to change the cooking times as well? I don't have equipment and the room for a 5 gallon system before anyone asks. Thanks for the input.

Yep, just cut the ingredients in half. It's not EXACT, but will be so close at that volume that it won't really matter too much.

Do NOT change your boil time.

If you wanted exact, you can download a trial version of Beersmith, plug your recipe in and then scale it down from there.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Beersmith and use it most every day for something BUT unless you're scaling up/down by a factor of 3 you probably won't notice a difference just cutting your ingredients in half for a 2.5gal batch.

Unless of course you've got a palette like Jamil.
