Are you asking why it has a small, or does the rootbeer you get come with alcohol?

Most home made soda has a small ammount of alcohol (minimal) due to adding yeast to get carbonation.

exactly. yeast is added to carb the rootbeer, which creates a very small amount of alcohol...some like .like .2-.5% ABV.

in other words, a dose of NyQuil has about 4x the alcohol as a 12oz bottle of homemade rootbeer.

If you are worried about the alcohol you can always force carbonate, this will leave you with zero alcohol.
