Where are you located? Are there any homebrew stores nearby? They may have info about local clubs you could check out. Some stores also offer classes or host club brew sessions. Our local store just opened a new location and is planning on having a giant brew day to celebrate the grand opening.

There is a sticky in the beginners beer brewing forum for homebrew supply websites. I use http://www.austinhomebrew.com/ and am very happy with them. Two other popular homebrew sites are http://www.midwestsupplies.com/ and http://www.northernbrewer.com/.
