Default lots of pellet junk in the fermenter

I got a lot of pellet junk in the primary and I was wondering if I should rack to a secondary sooner than normal. I would usually just leave it in the primary for a month and bottle but this one is going into a secondary on some dry hops. Am I likely to get a grassy flavor if I leave it in the primary for a month or will it be ok?

I would rack it sooner. I don't let my beer sit with hops for more than 10-14 days max, usually a week for me. I much prefer leaf to avoid the junk in fermenter & clogs.

I hardly ever strain my wort going into primary and I leave it in there for 3-4 weeks routinely. No issues so far.

Awesome thanks, I think I read in HTB that leaving the beer on hops too long could cause grassy flavors, but I think he also overstates the risk of autolysis.

I think it would be much more likely to get grassy flavors from extended dryhopping (more than 10-14 days) than from leaving them in primary. Leaving them in primary won't affect the beer.

I dry hopped for 26 days once. It was slightly grassy, but not enough to not drink it.

I think the real trick is to sample it along the way and rack it when you think it's ready...not wait a week, but test it like every other day.

All that pellet junk is why I went to whole hops.

I am sure that some will say that this affects the cold break but i tend to put the hops into hope bags ( well elastic support bandages that come on a roll actually) As long as you are active when they go in, get them well saturated and squeeze them out properly there leave very little residue behind.

in fact the trub in the boiler is pretty much just some grain husks. And in the FV it is only the yeast cake.

In this case i never rack it off, just let it ferment out then tap it to kegs for priming.
