Default keg filling question...

ok so i got all the stuff to fill the keg... how do i get the beer in it first... and what side do i hook the CO2 to red or black??? i need to know start to finish... thank you im using a corny...

1) You are going to have to rack the beer into the keg, just like you would a bottling bucket. The from vessel will be high, the keg low. You can use your racking cane, autosipon etc... Goes right in the big lid.

2) CO2 connections can be different and the connectors will only fit on one side. The keg should be labeled somewhere by the connection. One side should say IN the other OUT. If for some reason you can't find markings the CO2 will go in the side that has the very short tube sticking down into the keg. Beer will come out the side with the tube that goes to the bottom.

ok and how do i take the lid off i cant seem to get it off and i dont want to break it... do i just unscrew that little port in the center and fill it through the small hole?

It should be a lever lock lid like the one here. Should be pretty easy to open. If it doesn't look like this, it's not a corny.

it looks like that but the lever looks like its bolted down... should i just pull up and see

I didn't have a clue what to do with my kegs when I first got them, then I found Chris Knight's videos on YouTube. After that I felt like a kegging pro.
