Default Hopback substitute??

Wondering if some of the more experienced brewers on here can help me out. I don't have a hopback and I was wondering if a low flameout hop addition as well a small dry hop addition would replicate the hopbacks purpose? I suppose its got to be a trial and error thing but I was wondering if its worth the effort? Thanks in advance!
