Making a half batch, but wondering if I should use all of the yeast in the packet?
Try mrmalty.com yeast calculator.
What kind of packet? Dry or liquid?
How high is your starting gravity?
Liquid, dont know gravity have not brewed yet, new recipe from scratch, its a california ale yeast too btw for a citrus IPA
You'll be fine. I'd consider it a starter for a bigger beer.
Yeah, I would use the whole vial or packet. I brew 2.5 gal brews all the time and pitch the entire vial. If you believe in Mr. Malty, he usually suggests more than 1 vial/packet per 5 gal anyway.
The important thing is that you have enough healthy yeast cells to ferment. At this level too much isn't an issue.
